Been busy as all get-out since Christmas:
1) Found a Ben Lee Super Hen call-- I've been wanting one for 20 years. Ben Jr. is now making them
2) Traded for a Transfan gobbler decoy--- first gobbler deke I've ever had.
3) Ordered neoprene socks from Cabelas-- I'm tired of having wet feet early in the morning
4) Ordered a Flock-in-a-Box scratch box call. It's easily one of the more versatile calls I've ever encountered.
5) Placed an order with customsawing.com for the parts to make 4 new pot calls and 3 new pegs. Two are for me ( a slate and a slate/glass). I'm making matching custom slates for each of my sons and giving them each a hickory and a lucite peg.
6) Got Tom Kelly's new book The Fork in the Road-- has a 2 hour CD with it. It's aimed at 12-16 yr olds, but I'm reading it and then handing it off to Angus (9) so he can get a start.
7) Got Angus working on a wingbone call. It probably won't be a good match, but he's already awesome on a mouth call.
8) Brought out all the turkey guns and started getting them ready for season.
Still on the list:
Hit Bass-Pro and buy turkey ammo before it sells out. Find a 3-pack of mouth calls on sale and buy three--usually last me and the kids for a season.
Work on finding a mouth call case that lets the calls dry out-- I'm sick of sucking on yesterday's spit.
